New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has shared details of his personal health journey, revealing that he was once diabetic and relied on medication before adopting lifestyle changes that helped him lose 20 kilograms and eventually stop taking medicines.
Speaking at a public event focused on health and wellness, Shah said that a combination of dietary discipline, regular physical activity and a consistent daily routine played a crucial role in transforming his health.
According to Shah, there was a time when he was dealing with diabetes and other health concerns that required medication. Determined to improve his condition, he decided to make substantial changes to his lifestyle, focusing on weight management, exercise and healthier eating habits.
How Amit Shah Lost 20 Kg
The Union minister explained that his transformation was not the result of any quick-fix solution but rather a sustained commitment to healthier living.
Shah said he adopted a disciplined approach toward food consumption, monitored his diet carefully and incorporated regular exercise into his daily schedule. Over time, these efforts helped him shed approximately 20 kilograms.
He emphasized the importance of consistency, noting that long-term health improvements require dedication rather than temporary measures.
Says He Became Free From Medicines
One of the most notable aspects of Shah's account was his claim that the lifestyle changes enabled him to become free from medicines.
According to the minister, improved fitness levels and weight loss contributed significantly to better overall health, reducing his dependence on medication that he had previously required.
Health experts often note that lifestyle interventions such as maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly and following a balanced diet can help improve the management of conditions like Type 2 diabetes. However, they also stress that medical decisions should always be taken in consultation with healthcare professionals.
Focus on Preventive Healthcare
Shah used his personal experience to highlight the importance of preventive healthcare and healthy living. He encouraged people to pay attention to fitness, nutrition and daily habits, arguing that small but consistent changes can have a significant impact on long-term well-being.
The Home Minister's remarks come amid growing awareness about lifestyle-related diseases in India, including diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular conditions. Public health campaigns and medical experts have increasingly emphasized the need for regular exercise, healthier diets and routine health check-ups.
His story resonated with many attendees, who viewed it as an example of how sustained lifestyle modifications can contribute to improved health outcomes.
While Shah's experience is personal and may not apply universally, his message centered on the value of discipline, fitness and preventive care in maintaining overall health.
