‘Mantri Pradhan’ Should Resign, ‘Pradhan Mantri’ Owes Answers: Congress Targets Centre Over CBSE Glitches

The Congress party on Monday launched a sharp political attack on the Centre over alleged glitches and irregularities linked to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), demanding accountability from the Union government and raising questions over the functioning of the education system. In a strongly worded statement, Congress leaders targeted Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over issues reportedly faced by students during recent CBSE-related processes. The opposition accused the government of administrative negligence and failing to safeguard the interests of lakhs of students and parents.

“Mantri Pradhan should resign and the Pradhan Mantri owes answers to the nation,” Congress leaders said while criticising the Centre’s handling of the controversy. (m.economictimes.com)

The party alleged that repeated glitches in examination management, digital systems, and administrative procedures were creating uncertainty and stress among students. Congress leaders claimed the government was failing to address core educational challenges despite repeatedly promising reforms and technological improvements.

The BJP, however, dismissed the allegations and accused the Congress of politicising educational issues. Party leaders defended the Centre’s record on education reforms and pointed to initiatives introduced under the National Education Policy aimed at improving digital infrastructure, curriculum standards, and student access.

The latest political confrontation comes amid increasing scrutiny of educational institutions and examination systems in the country. Over the past few years, concerns regarding paper leaks, technical failures, result discrepancies, and exam-related management issues have repeatedly triggered public debate.

Congress leaders argued that students should not suffer due to what they described as administrative inefficiency. The party demanded greater transparency, improved accountability mechanisms, and stronger safeguards to ensure smooth conduct of examinations and student services.

Political observers believe the opposition is attempting to position education and youth-related concerns at the centre of its political narrative ahead of future elections. Issues involving students, competitive examinations, and educational administration have become politically sensitive due to their impact on millions of families across India.

The Congress has increasingly targeted the Centre over unemployment, education policies, examination systems, and alleged institutional failures. Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders have recently amplified criticism of the BJP government on issues affecting students and young voters.

Meanwhile, the Centre has maintained that continuous reforms are being implemented to modernise India’s education sector and improve institutional efficiency. Government officials argue that isolated technical or administrative issues should not overshadow broader progress made in expanding educational access and digital infrastructure.

As political exchanges over the CBSE controversy continue, the issue has once again brought the functioning of India’s educational institutions into national focus, with students and parents closely watching the developments.
