Delhi-NCR Rain Fury: Car Falls Into Ditch, High-Rises Vanish Behind Clouds as Heavy Downpour Triggers Massive Waterlogging | WATCH

New Delhi: Heavy monsoon showers battered Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), throwing normal life out of gear as widespread waterlogging, traffic congestion, and poor visibility affected commuters across several parts of the city.

Videos circulating on social media captured the scale of the disruption. In one incident, a car was seen lodged inside a roadside ditch after reportedly losing control on a rain-soaked stretch of road. Fortunately, no major injuries were immediately reported, though the incident underscored the hazards posed by waterlogged roads and reduced visibility during intense rainfall.

Another striking visual showed high-rise residential towers almost completely engulfed by dense rain clouds and mist, giving parts of the NCR skyline an eerie appearance. The dramatic scenes quickly gained traction online, with residents sharing clips of dark skies, overflowing drains, and flooded streets.

Several low-lying areas witnessed severe water accumulation, slowing vehicular movement during peak hours. Major roads experienced long traffic snarls as motorists struggled to navigate submerged stretches. Commuters also reported delays in reaching offices and schools due to flooded underpasses and clogged intersections.

The spell of heavy rain brought temporary relief from the scorching heat that had gripped the national capital in recent days. However, the downpour also exposed recurring urban infrastructure challenges, including inadequate drainage systems and waterlogging at known flood-prone locations.

Authorities urged residents to exercise caution while travelling, advising motorists to avoid flooded roads, maintain safe driving speeds, and stay updated on traffic advisories. Emergency response teams remained on alert to clear waterlogged stretches and assist stranded commuters where necessary.

Weather officials have indicated that intermittent rain and thunderstorms may continue over parts of Delhi-NCR as monsoon activity remains active. Residents have been advised to monitor weather updates before planning travel, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

As the monsoon gathers momentum, civic agencies are expected to intensify efforts to manage drainage and minimize disruptions, while citizens are urged to remain vigilant during adverse weather conditions.
