India Pledges More Aid for Palestine, Reaffirms Support for Full UN Membership
India has announced additional humanitarian assistance for Palestine while reiterating its support for the country's bid to become a full member of the United Nations, reinforcing New Delhi's longstanding position on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The announcement came during discussions on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and broader efforts to revive the peace process. India emphasized the need for an immediate improvement in humanitarian conditions and called for a negotiated two-state solution that ensures lasting peace in the region.
India Announces Additional Humanitarian Assistance
The Indian government said it would continue extending humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, who have been facing severe shortages of food, medicines and essential supplies amid the prolonged conflict.
India has previously supplied relief materials, including medical aid and disaster assistance, and indicated that further support would be provided based on humanitarian needs.
The latest commitment reflects India's continued engagement in relief efforts while advocating for the protection of civilians.
Backing Palestine's UN Membership
Alongside the aid announcement, India reaffirmed its support for Palestine's application for full membership of the United Nations.
New Delhi has consistently backed Palestine's aspirations for greater international recognition and has voted in favour of resolutions supporting Palestinian statehood at various international forums.
India reiterated that a sovereign, independent and viable Palestinian state living side by side with Israel within secure and internationally recognised borders remains the foundation for a lasting peace.
Call for Dialogue and Two-State Solution
India stressed that the ongoing conflict can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
It urged all parties to exercise restraint, protect civilian lives and work towards reviving meaningful negotiations aimed at achieving a comprehensive and peaceful settlement.
The government also highlighted the importance of ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian access to affected populations.
India's Balanced Diplomatic Approach
India has maintained diplomatic relations with both Israel and Palestine for decades.
While strengthening strategic ties with Israel in areas such as defence, technology and trade, New Delhi has simultaneously continued to support the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.
This balanced approach has remained a key feature of India's foreign policy in West Asia.
Global Focus on Humanitarian Crisis
The humanitarian situation in Gaza has prompted renewed international calls for increased aid and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
Several countries have urged greater humanitarian access while discussions continue at the United Nations over ceasefire proposals and long-term political solutions.
India's latest announcement is expected to further reinforce its role as a supporter of humanitarian relief and multilateral diplomacy in the region.
