Kiren Rijiju rules out extension of ongoing Parliament session

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday dismissed speculation over an extension of the ongoing Parliament session, stating that the government has no proposal to prolong the sitting beyond its scheduled duration.

Speaking to reporters, Rijiju said there was no plan under consideration to extend the session despite discussions surrounding the government's legislative agenda.

"There is no proposal to extend the Parliament session," the minister said.

Clarification amid speculation

The minister's remarks come after reports suggested that the Centre could consider extending the session to accommodate discussions on pending bills and other important legislative business.

However, Rijiju made it clear that the government intends to follow the existing parliamentary schedule unless any future decision is taken through the established process.

Government focused on legislative business

Rijiju said the government remains committed to ensuring that all scheduled legislative work is conducted smoothly during the current session.

He urged all political parties to cooperate in maintaining the smooth functioning of Parliament and participate constructively in debates on key bills and national issues.

According to the minister, disruptions and repeated adjournments reduce the time available for meaningful legislative discussions.
