'No One Takes Rahul Gandhi Seriously': Piyush Goyal Defends Amit Shah Amid Opposition Criticism

New Delhi: Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday hit back at Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, dismissing his criticism of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and asserting that "no one takes Rahul Gandhi seriously."

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Goyal rejected the Congress leader's allegations against Amit Shah and maintained that the Home Minister had done nothing wrong.

"There was nothing wrong in what Amit Shah said. No one takes Rahul Gandhi seriously," Goyal said while responding to questions from the media following the political controversy that unfolded during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

The remarks came after Rahul Gandhi criticised Amit Shah over his comments in Parliament, prompting a sharp exchange between the ruling BJP and the Congress. The issue led to protests by Opposition members, who demanded accountability from the government and accused the Home Minister of making objectionable remarks.

Defending the government's position, Goyal said the Opposition was attempting to create unnecessary controversy over the issue instead of participating in meaningful parliamentary discussions.

The BJP has maintained that Amit Shah's statements have been taken out of context and that the Opposition is using the matter to disrupt parliamentary proceedings. Party leaders have accused the Congress of politicising the issue for political gain during the Monsoon Session.

On the other hand, the Congress has continued to demand that the government clarify the Home Minister's remarks, with Rahul Gandhi alleging that Shah's comments were inappropriate. The Opposition has repeatedly raised the issue inside Parliament, leading to protests and disruptions in both Houses.

The exchange reflects the continuing political confrontation between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and the Congress-led Opposition during the current session, where several contentious issues have sparked heated debates.

With both sides standing firm on their positions, the controversy is expected to remain a key political flashpoint in Parliament in the coming days.
