Actor Prakash Raj Claims His Name Was Deleted from Bengaluru Electoral Roll During SIR

Bengaluru: Actor and social activist Prakash Raj has alleged that his name has been deleted from the electoral roll in Bengaluru during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

In a statement shared on social media, Prakash Raj expressed concern over the deletion of his name despite being an eligible voter. He questioned the accuracy of the electoral roll revision process and called upon the Election Commission of India (ECI) to address the issue promptly.

The actor urged election authorities to ensure that genuine voters are not removed from the electoral rolls due to procedural errors. He also appealed to citizens to verify their voter details and complete any necessary corrections before the revision process concludes.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is being carried out by the Election Commission to update electoral rolls by adding eligible voters, removing ineligible entries and correcting existing records. The exercise involves verification of voter details through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and the submission of relevant documents where required.

Prakash Raj's claim has sparked political discussion, with Opposition leaders questioning the implementation of the revision exercise. They have demanded greater transparency and safeguards to prevent eligible voters from being excluded.

Election officials have advised voters who notice discrepancies in their electoral records to approach their respective Electoral Registration Officers or submit claims and objections through the prescribed process. As of now, the Election Commission has not issued a specific response regarding Prakash Raj's allegation.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the importance of maintaining accurate electoral rolls ahead of future elections and ensuring that every eligible citizen is able to exercise their right to vote.
