‘Aaditya has the capability’: Sanjay Raut backs Uddhav Thackeray’s son amid second Sena split in four years

Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has strongly backed Aaditya Thackeray's leadership credentials amid renewed political upheaval within the Shiv Sena, saying the former Maharashtra minister has the ability to steer the party through challenging times.

Speaking to reporters, Raut dismissed speculation over the party's future and expressed confidence in Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray.

"Aaditya has the capability," Raut said, asserting that the young leader possesses the qualities needed to lead the party despite the ongoing political challenges.

Fresh turmoil in Shiv Sena

Raut's remarks come as the Shiv Sena grapples with another internal crisis, with rival factions staking claim to the party's legacy. The latest developments have revived memories of the 2022 split, when Eknath Shinde led a rebellion that ultimately resulted in the formation of a new government in Maharashtra.

The current political developments have intensified speculation over the party's organisational future, with leaders from both factions exchanging sharp attacks over loyalty and leadership.

Raut defends Aaditya's leadership

Defending Aaditya Thackeray, Raut said the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader has consistently remained connected with party workers and has demonstrated leadership both inside and outside the Assembly.

He argued that every political party eventually undergoes periods of crisis and that the current situation should not be viewed as a setback for Aaditya's political future.

According to Raut, the younger Thackeray has emerged as one of the prominent faces of the party since the split and continues to enjoy the confidence of the cadre.

Political battle intensifies

The latest developments are expected to sharpen the political contest between the rival Shiv Sena factions ahead of future electoral battles in Maharashtra.

While Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders have accused rivals of attempting to weaken the party, the opposing camp maintains that it represents the true legacy of Bal Thackeray.

Political observers believe the renewed uncertainty could reshape alliances and leadership equations in the state, with Aaditya Thackeray likely to play a central role in the opposition's strategy going forward.
