UP headmaster, wife killed: Blood-stained axe found, bodies 100m apart

A government school headmaster and his wife were found dead at their home, located on the premises of a private school in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district, on Tuesday. The incident has prompted a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police received information in the morning that two bodies had been found in Kumbhi Dariya village, under the jurisdiction of Kadipur police station. Officers reached the spot and began examining the scene for evidence.

The victims were identified as Mukesh Singh, 48, an acting headmaster at a junior high school, and his wife Vineeta Singh, 45, who ran the private school located on the premises.

According to police, school employees discovered the couple lying in pools of blood. Investigators subsequently examined the area and recovered a blood-stained axe, which is being treated as an important piece of evidence in the case.

Preliminary findings indicated that the attackers may have first targeted Vineeta Singh. Police suspect that Mukesh Singh attempted to flee after the attack, but was also attacked. His wife's body was found around 100 metres away from where her husband was found.

The distance between the two bodies has become one of the key aspects being examined by investigators as they attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Police are also checking CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify any suspicious movement before or after the incident. Investigators are looking into possible personal or local enmity that could have provided a motive for the killings.

Officials have not yet established the identity of the accused or confirmed the exact motive behind the incident. Further investigation is underway, with police collecting forensic evidence and questioning people who may have information about the couple or their activities.

The case has raised concern in the local area, particularly because the incident took place at a school premises where the couple lived and worked.
