'Keep it peaceful, carry a rose and...': Abhijeet Dipke's message as CJP prepares for Sansad March

As the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) geared up for its 'Sansad March' in New Delhi, founder Abhijeet Dipke issued a strong appeal to protesters, urging them to remain peaceful and avoid any confrontation with security personnel.

In a video message shared ahead of the march, Dipke asked participants to "carry a rose" as a symbol of non-violence and restraint, stressing that the protest should reflect the principles of peace and democracy.

The march has been organised in solidarity with climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose removal from Jantar Mantar and subsequent hospitalisation sparked nationwide protests and political controversy.

'Carry a rose, not anger'

Addressing supporters, Dipke urged demonstrators not to react to provocation and to cooperate with law enforcement wherever possible.

He said the objective of the march was to send a peaceful message to Parliament and the government, adding that protesters should carry roses as a gesture of goodwill rather than engage in aggressive behaviour.

The appeal comes amid heavy security arrangements in central Delhi, with authorities deploying additional police personnel and barricades around Parliament and other sensitive areas.

Security tightened ahead of march

Delhi Police have stepped up security in anticipation of large crowds participating in the protest.

Traffic restrictions and diversions have been imposed in parts of the national capital, while security personnel have been stationed at key junctions leading to Parliament.

Officials have maintained that the measures are intended to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the demonstration.

Protest over Wangchuk's removal

The 'Sansad March' follows the transfer of Sonam Wangchuk from his hunger strike at Jantar Mantar to VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital after nearly three weeks of fasting.

Police have said the decision was based on medical advice and aimed at protecting the activist's health. However, Wangchuk's supporters have alleged that he was moved against his wishes and have criticised the manner in which the operation was carried out.

The issue has since become a political flashpoint, with Opposition parties accusing the Centre of suppressing peaceful dissent.

Calls for peaceful demonstration

Dipke reiterated that the movement should remain committed to constitutional values and non-violent protest.

He urged participants to respect public property, avoid clashes and ensure that the demonstration remains focused on its core demands.

With thousands expected to take part, the march is likely to remain under close watch as political tensions over Wangchuk's protest continue to escalate.
