110 ABVP Workers Detained During March to Jharkhand Assembly Over Exam Irregularities

Ranchi: Around 110 workers of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were detained by the police on Monday while marching towards the Jharkhand Assembly to protest alleged examination irregularities and the recent police action against student protesters.

The protesters assembled in Ranchi and attempted to march towards the Assembly, demanding action over alleged irregularities in recruitment and competitive examinations. They also condemned the police action against students during earlier demonstrations and sought accountability from the state government.

Police personnel stopped the march before it reached the Assembly premises, citing security arrangements and restrictions around the legislature during the ongoing Assembly session. As the protesters continued their demonstration, authorities detained around 110 ABVP workers to prevent a breach of security.

ABVP leaders accused the state government of suppressing democratic protests and alleged that students seeking transparency in examinations were being targeted instead of having their concerns addressed. They demanded a fair investigation into the alleged examination irregularities and called for measures to ensure transparency in future recruitment processes.

Police officials stated that the detentions were preventive in nature and were carried out to maintain law and order near the Assembly complex. They said the situation remained under control and that the protesters would be released after the required legal formalities.

The incident comes amid heightened political attention on student protests in Jharkhand, with several political parties commenting on the police response and the handling of recruitment-related issues.
