Ayushmann Khurrana Calls Yeh Prem Mol Liya a Film for ‘Bharat, Not India’, Credits Sooraj Barjatya-Himesh Reshammiya

Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana has opened up about the appeal of his upcoming film Yeh Prem Mol Liya, calling it a movie for “Bharat, not India” and crediting director Sooraj Barjatya and composer Himesh Reshammiya for creating a story and soundtrack that he believes can connect with audiences across the country.

Khurrana made the remarks during the launch of the film's title track at Mumbai's iconic Royal Opera House on September 20. The event brought together Ayushmann, Sharvari, Sooraj Barjatya and Himesh Reshammiya, with Reshammiya performing live with a 25-piece orchestra.

Ayushmann Khurrana on the ‘Bharat’ connect

Speaking about the film, Ayushmann recalled that he initially wondered about the unusual title Yeh Prem Mol Liya when he first heard the narration from Barjatya.

The actor said that his doubts disappeared after Barjatya played the title track for him. He praised Reshammiya for understanding both emotions and the mass audience, and said the collaboration between Barjatya and Reshammiya made him confident about the film's title and wider appeal.

The “Bharat, not India” description was Khurrana's own characterization of the film's intended cultural connect. The film has been presented as a musical family entertainer rooted in relationships, traditions and Indian family values.

Himesh Reshammiya's music gets special praise

Music is expected to play a significant role in Yeh Prem Mol Liya. The title track has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya, with vocals by Shreya Ghoshal and Nihal Tauro and lyrics by Kumaar. The song features Ayushmann and Sharvari amid wedding rituals, family gatherings and festive celebrations.

Sharvari also praised Reshammiya during the launch, recalling that she had grown up listening to his music. She said the music and lyrics helped her connect more deeply with her character.

Sooraj Barjatya returns to his family-entertainer roots

The film marks another chapter in Sooraj Barjatya's family-oriented storytelling, with the director returning after Uunchai. The title track brings together romance, marriage rituals, family gatherings and festive traditions—elements closely associated with Barjatya's filmmaking.

The collaboration also reunites Barjatya and Reshammiya after their earlier work on Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The new film introduces Ayushmann and Sharvari as a fresh on-screen pairing, with the actor taking on the much-loved Rajshri character Prem.

When will Yeh Prem Mol Liya release?

Yeh Prem Mol Liya is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 27, 2026. The film is directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in the lead roles. It is being produced by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films.

With its emphasis on romance, family relationships, traditional celebrations and music, the film is positioning itself as a contemporary family entertainer with the signature elements associated with Barjatya's cinema.
