Eight AAP MLAs Marshalled Out of Delhi Assembly During Protest

New Delhi: Eight legislators of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were marshalled out of the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Monday after they protested during the House proceedings, leading to disruptions in the session.

The MLAs raised slogans and sought to press for a discussion on issues they described as being of public importance. As the protests continued despite repeated appeals from the Chair to maintain order, Assembly marshals were called in to escort the legislators out of the House.

The incident temporarily disrupted proceedings before the Assembly resumed its scheduled business.

AAP leaders criticised the action, alleging that the ruling side was attempting to silence the Opposition instead of allowing debate on matters affecting the people of Delhi. Party members maintained that they were exercising their democratic right to raise public issues inside the Assembly.

Members from the treasury benches defended the decision, arguing that the House must function according to established rules and that repeated disruptions hinder legislative business.

The Delhi Assembly has witnessed several confrontations between the ruling and Opposition benches in recent sessions, with disagreements over governance, administrative matters and public policy frequently leading to heated exchanges.

Parliamentary rules empower the Chair to order the removal of members whose conduct is deemed to be obstructing the orderly functioning of the House. Marshals are called upon only after repeated warnings fail to restore order.

The latest incident adds to the ongoing political contest in the national capital, where the AAP and its political rivals continue to clash over governance, public administration and legislative proceedings.
