Mumbai: Mumbai is witnessing extensive traffic restrictions on Friday, September 25, as thousands of Ganesh idols are being taken for immersion on Anant Chaturdashi.

The Mumbai Traffic Police have implemented road closures, diversions, one-way arrangements and no-parking restrictions across several traffic divisions to manage the movement of Ganesh Visarjan processions and large crowds. The restrictions cover parts of South Mumbai, Central Mumbai, western suburbs and eastern suburbs.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the affected roads wherever possible, particularly during busy procession hours, and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel on the ground.

South Mumbai: Routes affected

Several important roads in Colaba, Marine Drive, Kalbadevi, Girgaon, Pydhonie, DB Marg and Tardeo are facing restrictions.

In Colaba, affected roads include:

• Rambhau Salgaonkar Marg

Around Marine Drive, restrictions and closures will be imposed on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Marg as required for processions.

Juhu-Andheri: Several major roads restricted

The Juhu-Andheri belt is among the western-suburb areas expected to see significant traffic disruption.

• Juhu-Versova Link Road

• Juhu Tara Road

• Juhu Church Road

Gulmohar Road and V M Road will have one-way arrangements.

Earlier traffic advisories also indicated that Juhu Tara Road could be closed between Tulip Star Junction and Koliwada Junction when immersion processions pass through the area.

Malad-Goregaon: Marve Road restrictions

Motorists travelling through Malad and Goregaon should expect restrictions on Marve Road, along with parts of S V Road and M G Road.

Traffic diversions have been planned in areas affected by processions heading towards immersion points.

In the Kandivali-Borivali area, restrictions affect:

• Damu Anna Date Marg

• Bandarpakhadi Road

• Marve Road

• L T Road

• Babu Bagwe Road

Drivers heading towards the affected immersion zones should allow additional travel time.

Bhandup-Mulund: Eastern suburbs affected

In the Bhandup and Mulund areas, restrictions are being imposed on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg and Tank Road, along with roads around Mulund railway station.

Motorists should expect changes to normal traffic movement as immersion processions pass through the area.

Chembur and Ghatkopar-Mankhurd routes

In Chembur, restrictions are in place on R C Marg and Hemu Kalani Marg.

Heavy vehicles are also subject to restrictions in the area.

Parts of Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road and BPT Road are also affected by heavy-vehicle restrictions during the immersion period.
