‘You Have ED, CBI; I Have Maa, Maati, Maanush’: TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee Targets BJP

Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the BJP, saying that while the ruling party at the Centre has agencies such as the ED and CBI, the TMC's strength lies in its "Maa, Maati, Maanush" ideology and grassroots support. The remarks come amid continuing political tensions between the BJP and TMC in West Bengal.

‘You Have ED, CBI; I Have Maa, Maati, Maanush’: TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee Targets BJP

Kalyan Banerjee Hits Out at BJP

Senior Trinamool Congress leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee on Saturday launched a strong political attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, declaring that while the BJP may have central investigative agencies at its disposal, the TMC derives its strength from the people of West Bengal.

Addressing party workers and supporters, Banerjee said, "You have the ED and CBI, I have 'Maa, Maati, Maanush' and my party," invoking the slogan that has long been associated with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's political movement.

The statement quickly became a talking point in the state's heated political landscape.

Reference to ED and CBI

Banerjee's remarks were aimed at the BJP's alleged use of central investigative agencies against opposition leaders.

The Trinamool Congress has repeatedly accused the Centre of using agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation for political purposes.

The BJP has consistently rejected these allegations, maintaining that investigative agencies function independently and act based on evidence and legal procedures.

‘Maa, Maati, Maanush’ Remains TMC's Core Message

The phrase "Maa, Maati, Maanush" has been central to the political identity of the All India Trinamool Congress since its rise to power in West Bengal.

The slogan, which translates to "Mother, Motherland, and People," has been used by the party to emphasize grassroots politics, social welfare, and public participation in governance.

Banerjee said the party's strength comes from public support rather than institutional power.

BJP Responds to Allegations

Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have frequently dismissed accusations regarding the misuse of investigative agencies.

BJP representatives argue that agencies act independently and that individuals facing investigations should cooperate with legal authorities instead of making political allegations.

The party has also accused the TMC of attempting to divert attention from corruption-related cases through political rhetoric.

Political Rivalry Intensifies in Bengal

The exchange is the latest chapter in the ongoing rivalry between the BJP and TMC, which has dominated West Bengal's political discourse for several years.

Both parties have frequently clashed over issues ranging from governance and corruption allegations to federal relations and law enforcement matters.

Political analysts note that rhetoric from leaders on both sides is likely to intensify as future electoral contests approach.

Battle of Narratives Continues

Banerjee's remarks reflect the broader narrative being promoted by the TMC, which portrays itself as a party rooted in Bengal's identity and public support.

Meanwhile, the BJP continues to focus on issues such as governance, corruption allegations, and administrative accountability in its campaign against the ruling party.

As political tensions remain high in West Bengal, statements from senior leaders are expected to continue shaping public debate and party strategies in the months ahead.
