PM Modi to launch major infrastructure projects during Rajasthan visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Rajasthan on Saturday, where he will inaugurate the HPCL Rajasthan Oil Refinery at Pachpadra in Balotra district and lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited Jaipur Metro Phase 2 project. The visit is expected to mark one of the state's biggest infrastructure milestones, with development projects worth around ₹1.06 lakh crore scheduled to be dedicated, inaugurated or launched.

The centrepiece of the visit will be the inauguration of the HPCL Rajasthan Oil Refinery, India's first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex. Built at an investment of more than ₹79,450 crore, the state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly boost Rajasthan's industrial growth, generate employment and strengthen India's energy security.

The refinery's inauguration comes after months of delay. The original launch, scheduled for April, had to be postponed following a major fire that damaged the crude distillation unit a day before the event. Following extensive repair work and successful recommissioning, the project is now ready to be formally dedicated to the nation.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Jaipur Metro Phase 2, a major urban transport project estimated to cost over ₹13,000 crore. The new corridor will expand Jaipur's metro network, improving connectivity between key residential, commercial and industrial areas while easing traffic congestion in the Rajasthan capital.

Apart from these flagship projects, Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed terminal building at Jodhpur Airport and launch the Modified UDAN scheme aimed at improving regional air connectivity. Several other projects related to railways, roads, renewable energy and power transmission will also be unveiled during the visit.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reviewed preparations for the Prime Minister's visit and directed officials to ensure smooth conduct of the events. Security has been tightened at Balotra, Jodhpur and other venues, with administrative teams coordinating arrangements ahead of the high-profile programme.

The Rajasthan visit underscores the Centre's focus on expanding infrastructure and industrial development in the state. The Pachpadra refinery is expected to emerge as a major petrochemical hub, while Jaipur Metro Phase 2 is projected to transform urban mobility for lakhs of commuters in the coming years.
