Prithviraj Chavan Says Rahul Gandhi's 2029 Role Is Not Decided

Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has said that it would be premature to determine whether Rahul Gandhi will be projected as the Opposition's prime ministerial face in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to PTI journalists in Mumbai, Chavan said neither the Congress nor the INDIA bloc had reached a decision on a prime ministerial candidate. He indicated that the question could be decided closer to or even after the 2029 elections.

Opposition Unity Is the Immediate Priority

Chavan said the larger challenge for the Opposition is to prevent anti-BJP votes from being divided among multiple parties.
