Rahul Gandhi Will Be INDIA Bloc's 2029 PM Candidate, Says Tamil Nadu Minister P Viswanathan

Chennai: Tamil Nadu minister P Viswanathan has said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be the INDIA bloc's prime ministerial candidate for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, putting the Congress leader at the centre of the Opposition alliance's future political strategy.

Viswanathan's remarks come well ahead of the next general election and are significant as Opposition parties continue to discuss coordination, leadership and seat-sharing arrangements.

The INDIA bloc, which brings together several Opposition parties, was formed with the objective of presenting a broader political alternative to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
