New Delhi: Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has criticised the Centre over the recent rise in sugar prices, alleging that the government's E20 ethanol-blending policy has contributed to the increase.

Surjewala accused the government of ignoring warnings about the possible impact of increased ethanol production on the availability of sugar and said the policy had added pressure to consumer prices.
