Suvendu Adhikari Warns Mamata Banerjee Over Disclosure of 2021 Leg Injury Records

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has warned former Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee against pursuing the issue surrounding the public disclosure of her medical records related to a 2021 leg injury.

Adhikari’s remarks came after Banerjee sought an explanation from SSKM Hospital and Bangur Institute of Neurosciences over how medical records connected to her 2021 Nandigram incident were disclosed publicly without her permission.

Addressing the media on Monday, Adhikari cautioned Banerjee against taking the matter further and claimed that additional medical documents could be made public if required.

The remarks came amid a political dispute over the disclosure of Banerjee’s medical records. Banerjee had served a legal notice on the two medical institutions, seeking clarification over the circumstances under which records related to her injury became publicly available.

The 2021 leg injury had occurred in the context of the Nandigram episode during the West Bengal Assembly election campaign. The issue has now resurfaced following the publication and discussion of medical documents connected with that period.

Adhikari, who succeeded Banerjee as West Bengal Chief Minister according to the report, made a strong statement while addressing the media. He warned that if he chose to disclose additional medical material, including X-ray plates and MRI reports, Banerjee could face further political difficulty.

The dispute highlights the continuing political rivalry between Adhikari and Banerjee in West Bengal. What began as a question over the disclosure of medical records has now developed into a fresh political confrontation between the two leaders.

Banerjee’s legal notice focuses on how her medical information was disclosed without permission, while Adhikari has responded by suggesting that further records could be produced if the matter is pursued.

The controversy therefore involves both a political dispute and questions surrounding the handling and disclosure of medical records. The report, however, does not provide further details on the outcome of the legal notices issued to SSKM Hospital and Bangur Institute of Neurosciences.
