India concluded their 2026 Asian Games campaign in Aichi-Nagoya with a total of 85 medals, including 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. The medal tally placed India fourth overall, ahead of countries including Uzbekistan, Iran and Thailand.

The Indian contingent produced a strong performance across several disciplines during the fortnight-long competition, with athletes delivering a number of historic results and ending long waits for Asian Games gold medals.

India’s medal tally at Asian Games 2026

India finished the Games with:

  • Gold medals: 21

  • Silver medals: 27

  • Bronze medals: 37

  • Total medals: 85

  • Final position: 4th

The campaign featured medals across sports such as archery, shooting, boxing, hockey, wrestling, golf and other disciplines.

Historic archery achievements

Archery was among the sports that produced some of India's most significant results.

Kumkum Anil Mohod created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual recurve gold medal at the Asian Games.

India also won gold in the women's recurve team event. The result was particularly significant because the Indian team ended South Korea's 28-year hold over the event.

The performances added important milestones to India's record in Asian Games archery and highlighted the country's growing strength in the discipline.

Neeru Dhanda ends 48-year wait

Shooting also produced a landmark achievement for India.

Neeru Dhanda won the women's trap gold medal, ending a 48-year wait for India in the event.

Dhanda also combined with Kynan Chenai in the mixed trap competition. The Indian pair produced another memorable result by setting a new Asian record.

The performances made shooting one of the important contributors to India's medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya.

Pranavi Urs creates golf history

India also achieved a major milestone in golf.

Pranavi Urs won India's first-ever Asian Games gold medal in golf.

Her victory added another historic first to India's campaign and expanded the country's list of successful sports at the continental event.

Hockey success

India's hockey teams also played an important role in the country's medal campaign.

The men's hockey team won gold and successfully defended its Asian Games title. The victory also secured India's qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The result meant India retained its position at the top of Asian men's hockey at the continental level while also securing an important qualification pathway for the next Olympics.

Boxing delivers three gold medals

The boxing competition also proved significant for India, with Indian boxers winning three gold medals.

Among the gold medallists was Lovlina Borgohain, adding another major achievement to her international career.

The boxing results contributed substantially to India's final medal count and helped strengthen the country's overall performance across combat sports.

A campaign filled with milestones

India's 85-medal haul was not simply the result of a few dominant disciplines. Athletes across multiple sports contributed to the overall tally.

Several performances stood out because they ended long medal droughts, established new national milestones or helped India achieve results it had not previously managed at the Asian Games.

The women's recurve team victory against South Korea, Kumkum Mohod's individual recurve gold, Neeru Dhanda's trap triumph and Pranavi Urs' historic golf gold were among the most notable achievements highlighted during the campaign.

The men's hockey team's successful title defence added another major achievement, while the three boxing gold medals further strengthened India's position in combat sports.

India finish fourth

With 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, India ended the 2026 Asian Games in fourth place with 85 medals overall.

The final tally reflected contributions from athletes and teams across a wide range of sports. India's campaign also included several performances that created new milestones in the country's Asian Games history.

The Aichi-Nagoya Games therefore ended with India recording a total of 85 medals and a top-four finish.
