Acting on Tip, Bihar EOU Recovers Rs 50 Lakh During Search at Engineer’s Home

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has claimed to have recovered Rs 50 lakh in cash during ongoing searches at premises linked to an executive engineer of the state Planning and Development Department.

The cash was recovered during a search in Muzaffarpur, according to EOU Director Inspector General Manavjeet Singh Dhillon. He said the recovered cash was being counted with the help of a machine.

The searches are being conducted in connection with a disproportionate assets case against the government official.

Rs 50 Lakh Cash Recovered in Muzaffarpur

According to the EOU, officers recovered Rs 50 lakh during the search at a property linked to the engineer in Muzaffarpur.

EOU DIG Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said that the cash was being counted using a counting machine following its recovery.

The recovery was made while the investigation and searches were continuing at several locations associated with the government official.

Case Against Executive Engineer

The searches are being carried out against Narad Kumar Das, an executive engineer in Bihar’s Planning and Development Department.

The EOU registered a case against Das on October 7 under Section 13(2) and Section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The case relates to allegations concerning disproportionate assets. The searches are part of the investigation into the case.

Searches at Multiple Locations

The investigation has involved searches at several premises connected to the executive engineer.

The locations being searched include his residences in Bhagalpur and Patna, a flat in Muzaffarpur, and another location in Munger. A government office is also among the locations being searched.

The searches were initiated as part of the EOU's investigation following registration of the case.

The recovery of Rs 50 lakh in cash is one of the developments emerging from the ongoing searches.
