CM Vijay Runs Towards Ajith Kumar, Gives Him a Tight Hug at Silverstone: Watch Viral Video

Tamil cinema's long-running Vijay-Ajith fan rivalry gave way to a heartwarming moment at the Silverstone Racing Circuit in the UK on Saturday, September 12. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C Joseph Vijay met actor-racer Ajith Kumar ahead of the Michelin Le Mans Cup race.

A video from the event has gone viral on social media, showing Vijay approaching Ajith and giving him a warm, tight hug. The two stars appeared visibly happy to meet, while fans and onlookers cheered the reunion. 

Vijay and Ajith's Silverstone reunion

Vijay was at Silverstone as a special guest for the Michelin Le Mans Cup's fifth round of the 2026 championship. He was scheduled to wave the ceremonial green flag for the race, in which Ajith was competing. 

The meeting carries added significance because Vijay and Ajith have been among Tamil cinema's biggest stars for decades, with their respective fan bases often portrayed as rivals. The Silverstone meeting offered a very different picture, with the two actors exchanging a warm embrace.

Ajith had invited Vijay to Silverstone

Ahead of the event, Ajith had spoken warmly about Vijay's visit. He said the two had been colleagues in the film industry for 34 years and thanked the Chief Minister for taking time out of his schedule to attend the race. Ajith also expressed hope that motorsport events of this scale could eventually be hosted in India. 

The visit was also linked to Tamil Nadu's efforts to promote sports. Vijay's presence at the international racing event brought together cinema, motorsport and his new political role in a highly visible setting.
