Delhi YouTuber, 32, arrested for allegedly stalking women, uploading harassment videos

A 32-year-old YouTuber has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly stalking women, filming them without their consent and uploading videos of the encounters on social media platforms to gain views and followers.

The accused was taken into custody following complaints from women who alleged that they were harassed in public places while the incidents were secretly recorded and later shared online. Police said the videos were designed to attract attention on social media, often at the expense of the victims' privacy and dignity.

According to investigators, the accused allegedly followed women at markets, metro stations and other crowded public locations before approaching or harassing them while recording the interactions. The videos were subsequently uploaded to his social media channels, where they attracted significant engagement.

Police said an investigation was initiated after multiple complaints were received from women and concerned citizens. Authorities analysed the videos, traced the accused's identity and gathered digital evidence before making the arrest.

During the investigation, officers reportedly seized electronic devices, including mobile phones and recording equipment, which are being examined for additional evidence. Police are also scrutinising the accused's social media accounts to determine the number of videos uploaded and identify any other victims.

A senior police official said the investigation is focused on establishing the full extent of the alleged offences. Authorities have appealed to anyone who believes they may have been targeted by the accused to come forward and assist with the probe.

The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act relating to stalking, harassment, invasion of privacy and publication of objectionable content. Additional charges may be added depending on the findings of the investigation.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the misuse of social media platforms for creating so-called "prank" or "public reaction" content that crosses legal and ethical boundaries. Experts have emphasised that filming or publishing videos of individuals without consent—particularly when it involves harassment or intimidation—can attract serious criminal liability.

Delhi Police reiterated that creating online content does not exempt individuals from complying with the law. Officials urged social media users to report abusive or non-consensual content and encouraged victims of online harassment to approach law enforcement authorities.

The investigation remains ongoing, with police examining whether the accused acted alone and whether similar offences were committed in other parts of the National Capital Region.
