Kalief Terrill Walker, the 18-year-old suspect previously charged in connection with the June shooting at Haywood Mall in Greenville, South Carolina, has been arrested again—this time over a separate shooting that took place in March.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office announced that Walker and a juvenile suspect were taken into custody following an investigation into a shooting at a residence that occurred on March 27. The latest arrest adds to Walker's growing list of criminal charges stemming from two separate incidents.
Arrest Linked to March Residential Shooting
According to investigators, Greenville County Communications received a 911 call at around 2 a.m. on March 27 reporting gunfire directed at a home.
Following an investigation, deputies identified Walker and a juvenile as suspects in the case. Walker has been charged with:
Attempted murder
Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
Discharging a firearm into a dwelling
Unlawful possession of a firearm
Authorities said Walker was denied bond on all of the newly filed charges.
Previously Charged in Haywood Mall Shooting
Walker's latest arrest comes just weeks after he was charged in connection with the June 13 shooting at Haywood Mall in Greenville.
Court records show he had previously been arrested on charges including breach of peace, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of a stolen pistol. Those charges were linked to the mall shooting, in which Walker himself suffered gunshot wounds to the shoulder and neck, while a female bystander was shot in the foot. Investigators said the violence stemmed from an argument among individuals who knew one another and was not considered a random attack.
Third Suspect Also Arrested
Police have also announced the arrest of a 16-year-old in connection with the Haywood Mall shooting, making him the third suspect taken into custody in that investigation.
Walker's younger brother, 17-year-old Kamari Stephone Walker, has also been charged as an adult in the mall shooting case and was denied bond. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigation Continues
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has not disclosed a possible motive for the March shooting, and investigators are continuing to gather evidence.
The latest charges are separate from the Haywood Mall case, meaning Walker now faces legal proceedings in multiple criminal investigations. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Walker is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
