Kiren Rijiju Challenges Rahul Gandhi to Face Amit Shah in Parliament, Says 'Don't Run, Don't Be Afraid'

New Delhi: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday challenged Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to face Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, accusing the Congress of avoiding debate while demanding discussions on various issues.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Rijiju said, "Bhaagna nahi hai, darna nahi" (Don't run, don't be afraid), urging Rahul Gandhi to participate in the House and engage in a direct debate with the Home Minister.

The minister alleged that the Opposition was disrupting Parliament instead of allowing discussions to take place under established rules. He maintained that the government was prepared to respond to issues raised by Opposition members but accused them of preventing the normal functioning of the House through repeated protests.

Rijiju's remarks came amid continuing disruptions during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with Opposition parties demanding a statement from Amit Shah on the police action against student protesters in Jharkhand and other related issues.

The Congress has insisted that the Home Minister should make a detailed statement in Parliament and respond to concerns over the alleged use of force against students. Opposition leaders have argued that the matter is of national importance and deserves a structured discussion.

The BJP, however, has maintained that the government is willing to debate the issue and has accused the Opposition of avoiding meaningful discussion while resorting to slogan-shouting and protests.

The political exchange reflects the widening divide between the ruling alliance and the Opposition, with both sides accusing each other of being responsible for the repeated disruptions that have affected legislative business during the Monsoon Session.

As the standoff continues, parliamentary proceedings remain uncertain, with efforts underway to restore normal functioning and facilitate discussions on the issues raised by both sides.
