Multiple Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats, Anti-Sabotage Checks Underway

New Delhi: Several schools in the national capital received bomb-threat emails on Monday, September 21, prompting police and security agencies to launch search operations and evacuate students and staff as a precaution.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, the schools included Mother International School in Hauz Khas, Navy Children's School in Chanakyapuri and Bal Bharti School in Chanakyapuri. Police teams, bomb detection and disposal personnel and other emergency responders were deployed to the affected campuses.

Anti-sabotage checks launched

Following the threats, authorities began detailed anti-sabotage searches at the schools. Students and staff were moved out of the premises while security personnel checked the campuses.

An official quoted by PTI said that the search was underway and nothing suspicious had been found so far. The investigation was continuing when the reports emerged.

The precautionary response followed standard security procedures used when educational institutions receive bomb threats, regardless of whether the message is later found to be genuine or a hoax.

Police investigating threat emails

Delhi Police are also investigating the emails to establish their source and determine who sent them. Cyber investigators are expected to examine the digital trail associated with the messages.

The latest incident comes amid a series of similar bomb-threat emails targeting schools in Delhi. Earlier in September, several schools, including The British School, Sanskriti School and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, had received threats, prompting evacuations and security searches. No explosives were found in those searches.

Repeated threats raise security concerns

Delhi has witnessed multiple waves of bomb-threat messages against schools and other public institutions this year. Such threats can result in the evacuation of large numbers of students and staff even when there is no confirmed explosive device.

The authorities therefore have to treat each message as a potential security threat until the premises have been thoroughly checked.

On Monday, officials had not reported any explosion, injuries or discovery of an explosive device at the affected Delhi schools. The investigation into the latest emails remains underway.
