'Long way to go': Marking two years as Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi vows to keep fighting

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday marked two years as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, saying there is still a "long way to go" as he reaffirmed his commitment to continue fighting for the rights of the people and the values enshrined in the Constitution.

Sharing a message on social media, Gandhi thanked party workers, supporters and citizens for standing by him during the past two years. He said the responsibility of serving as the Leader of the Opposition has strengthened his resolve to hold the government accountable and amplify the voices of ordinary Indians.

"Two years as the Leader of Opposition. Long way to go. We'll keep fighting," Rahul Gandhi said in his post.

Focus on accountability

Since assuming the role of Leader of the Opposition following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi has emerged as one of the government's most vocal critics, raising issues ranging from unemployment and inflation to social justice, farmers' welfare and economic policy.

The Congress leader has repeatedly asserted that the Opposition's responsibility is to ensure democratic accountability by questioning government decisions and representing concerns raised by citizens inside Parliament.
