A newborn girl died under suspicious circumstances at a hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district, with police investigating the case after doctors noticed injuries that raised the possibility of strangulation.
According to the report, the baby was allegedly strangled to death within 16 hours of her birth. She had been born to a couple from the Chanderi area and was admitted to the hospital shortly after birth for medical observation.
Initially, the baby’s condition appeared to have deteriorated suddenly. However, the circumstances surrounding her death came under scrutiny after doctors examining the newborn noticed marks around her neck.
The medical staff also reportedly noticed blood on the baby’s face and blood coming from her mouth. These findings prompted authorities to treat the death as a suspected murder rather than simply a medical complication.
The baby was being kept under observation after her admission. By Saturday afternoon, however, she had died. The discovery of the marks on her neck led doctors to alert authorities and resulted in a police investigation.
A police officer said an initial medical examination had identified marks on the infant’s neck. Blood was also reportedly found on her face. Police subsequently began questioning members of the baby’s family to establish what happened during the period between her birth, admission and death.
The investigation is currently focused on the circumstances inside the hospital and the people who may have had access to the newborn.
The case has raised serious questions because the baby was under medical observation at the time of her death. Investigators will need to establish when the injuries occurred, how they were caused and who was present around the infant during the relevant period.
Police are also questioning the family members as they attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events. The exact circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death and the identity of any person responsible have not yet been established based on the information available in the report.
The case began as what appeared to be a sudden deterioration in the health of a newborn but took a serious turn after the medical staff noticed physical signs that were inconsistent with an ordinary medical emergency.
The marks around the baby’s neck and the presence of blood prompted authorities to investigate the possibility that she had been deliberately harmed.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the available report does not establish a final cause of death beyond the suspected strangulation or identify a confirmed accused person. Police are continuing to question family members and examine the circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.
