Netherlands set Morocco Round of 32 date after beating Tunisia 3-1 in FIFA World Cup 2026

The Netherlands sealed first place in Group F with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Tunisia, setting up a Round of 32 showdown against Morocco at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Dutch wasted little time asserting their dominance in Kansas City, taking the lead in the third minute after Tunisia midfielder Ellyes Skhiri inadvertently turned Denzel Dumfries' cross into his own net. Just four minutes later, Brian Brobbey doubled the advantage, finishing from close range after Virgil van Dijk's header created the opportunity.

Tunisia briefly threatened a comeback early in the second half when Hazem Mastouri headed home from a Hannibal Mejbri corner in the 54th minute. However, the Netherlands restored their two-goal cushion eight minutes later as Jan Paul van Hecke powered in a header from Tijjani Reijnders' corner for his first-ever World Cup goal.

The victory ensured Ronald Koeman's side finished atop Group F with seven points after three matches. Japan's 1-1 draw with Sweden confirmed the Dutch as group winners, allowing them to avoid a potentially tougher knockout pairing and instead book a meeting with Morocco in Monterrey on June 29 (local time).

For Tunisia, the defeat capped a disappointing campaign. The North African side lost all three group matches and finished bottom of Group F, conceding 12 goals while scoring just twice during the tournament.

The Netherlands will now shift their focus to Morocco, who finished second in Group C after an unbeaten group-stage campaign. The Round of 32 encounter is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the first knockout round as two technically gifted teams battle for a place in the last 16.
