Paid for Food, Beaten, 'Shoot' Threat: Shocking Allegations Against IPL Star Shashank Singh in Cook Abuse Case

Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh has landed in legal trouble after a domestic cook accused him, his retired IPS officer father Shailesh Singh and their family driver of assault, abuse, wrongful confinement and intimidation at their residence in Bhopal.

Based on the complaint, Ratibad Police in Bhopal have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the allegations. The case has attracted widespread attention due to the involvement of a high-profile IPL player and a former senior police officer.

Cook Alleges Assault and Threats

The complainant, identified as Vipendra Singh Tomar, alleged that he joined the Singh family's residence as a cook after being promised a monthly salary of ₹15,000 along with food and accommodation.

According to his complaint, he decided to quit after just one day, claiming the work environment was abusive and the workload excessive. Tomar alleged that his mobile phone was confiscated after he informed the family of his decision to leave.

He further claimed that when he asked for his phone to be returned, Shashank Singh, his father and their driver allegedly entered his room, verbally abused him and assaulted him.

Tomar also alleged that he was threatened with being shot if he approached the police and claimed he was forced to pay ₹1,000 towards food and accommodation despite having been promised those facilities as part of his employment. He later approached the police, where an FIR was registered following a medical examination.

FIR Registered

Police have booked Shashank Singh, Shailesh Singh and the family driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have confirmed that the matter is under investigation and that further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe.

Shashank Singh Denies Allegations

Shashank Singh has strongly denied the accusations, rejecting claims that he assaulted or wrongfully confined the cook.

Responding to the allegations, the Punjab Kings batter said he "hesitates even to use abusive language" and disputed the complainant's version of events. He also claimed that the cook lacked the skills required for the job and denied that he was held against his will.

Investigation Underway

Police are examining statements from both sides and gathering evidence as part of the investigation. No court has yet ruled on the allegations, and the FIR represents the beginning of the criminal investigation rather than a finding of guilt. Authorities are expected to question those named in the complaint before deciding on the next course of action.
