R Madhavan trolled by FTII students over silence on CJP protest with 'Gayab' and 'NEET For Sale' posters

Actor and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Chairman R Madhavan has been targeted by protesting students over his silence on the ongoing Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) demonstrations, with posters carrying messages such as "Gayab" and "NEET For Sale" appearing on the institute's campus.

The protest comes amid growing political and public debate over the handling of the CJP-led agitation and the broader controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in national entrance examinations.

Students question Madhavan's silence

FTII students criticised Madhavan for not publicly commenting on the recent protests and the alleged police action against student demonstrators in Delhi.

During the demonstration, students held up posters describing the FTII chairman as "Gayab" (missing) and displayed banners carrying the slogan "NEET For Sale", reflecting their opposition to the current examination system and demanding greater accountability.

The protest remained peaceful as students voiced their concerns through slogans and placards.

Protest linked to wider movement

The demonstration at FTII comes against the backdrop of nationwide protests that intensified following the removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar and the subsequent CJP-led 'Chalo Sansad' march.

The issue has since sparked political confrontations, legal proceedings and solidarity protests at educational institutions across the country.

Student groups have called for greater transparency in education-related policies and expressed concern over the treatment of protesters.

No response from Madhavan

As of now, R Madhavan has not publicly responded to the students' criticism or the posters displayed during the protest.

The actor, who has served as the chairman of FTII, has generally maintained a low public profile on politically sensitive issues.

Debate extends to campuses

The developments at FTII highlight how the ongoing controversy has spread beyond the national capital, with students at universities and educational institutions expressing solidarity with the protests and raising concerns about education policies.

With the issue continuing to dominate political discourse and Parliament proceedings, campus protests are expected to remain part of the wider national conversation in the coming days.
