Farah Khan reveals Shah Rukh Khan flew 50 cast and crew members to Dubai for 'Happy New Year' premiere

Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has shared another anecdote highlighting Shah Rukh Khan's generosity, revealing that the Bollywood superstar bore the cost of flying around 50 cast and crew members to Dubai for the premiere of their 2014 film Happy New Year.

Speaking during a recent interaction, Farah recalled that Shah Rukh wanted everyone associated with the film—not just the lead actors—to be part of the special occasion. According to her, the actor ensured that technicians, assistants and other crew members travelled to Dubai alongside the principal cast for the film's grand premiere.

'He paid for everyone'

Farah said Shah Rukh personally arranged and paid for the travel expenses of nearly 50 people involved in the making of Happy New Year.

She noted that while film premieres often involve only actors and senior members of the production team, Shah Rukh insisted that everyone who had contributed to the project deserved to celebrate its release together.

The filmmaker described the gesture as a reflection of the actor's appreciation for the hard work of every member of the team.

A grand premiere in Dubai

Happy New Year had one of Bollywood's biggest international premieres, held in Dubai before its worldwide release in October 2014.

The heist comedy featured an ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff. Directed by Farah Khan and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film went on to become one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year.

Farah and Shah Rukh's long association

Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have shared a successful professional partnership spanning more than two decades. Shah Rukh made his directorial debut under Farah with Main Hoon Na (2004), followed by Om Shanti Om (2007) and Happy New Year (2014).

The filmmaker has often spoken about Shah Rukh's generosity, professionalism and close bond with his colleagues, recounting several instances where the actor went out of his way to support cast and crew members.

Fans praise Shah Rukh's gesture

Farah's latest revelation has resonated with fans on social media, many praising Shah Rukh for acknowledging the contributions of technicians and support staff.

The actor has long been known in the industry for celebrating the efforts of everyone involved in filmmaking, earning admiration from colleagues and fans alike.
