Vibe Trailer: Kunal Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava Get Caught in a Hilarious Mission to Save the Nation

Mumbai: The trailer of Kunal Kemmu's Vibe is finally here, and it offers a colourful combination of action, comedy and espionage. Starring Kunal Kemmu and Laapataa Ladies fame Sparsh Shrivastava, the film follows two unlikely heroes who are suddenly pushed into a high-stakes mission to save the nation.

Written and directed by Kemmu, Vibe turns the conventional Bollywood spy formula on its head. Instead of highly trained agents, the story centres on two ordinary men who can barely manage their own lives but unexpectedly find themselves responsible for stopping a terrorist plot.

Kunal Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava as unlikely spies

The trailer introduces Kemmu and Shrivastava as Hardik and Bugs, two friends whose lives take an unexpected turn after they are pulled into a dangerous national-security operation.

Rather than embracing their new roles like conventional action heroes, the duo appears completely overwhelmed by the situation. Their lack of preparation becomes one of the central sources of humour in the trailer.

Kemmu's character even questions why the authorities have chosen him when Bollywood already has larger-than-life spy heroes such as Tiger and Pathaan, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the popular Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan franchises.

The trailer subsequently turns into a series of comic mishaps as the two friends attempt to perform tasks far beyond their abilities.

Preity Zinta returns in an action-packed role

Preity G Zinta is another major attraction of Vibe. She plays Madam H, the woman leading the operation and the person who believes the two unlikely men can help complete the mission.

The trailer gives Zinta an action-heavy avatar, marking a different kind of role for the actor as she returns to the big screen.

The film also features Vanshika Dhir, Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav in important roles.Comedy meets the spy genre

The trailer appears to deliberately play with familiar Bollywood spy-movie tropes. Instead of presenting invincible agents, Vibe puts two inexperienced friends at the centre of a mission where the stakes are enormous.

The result is a comedy of errors packed with action sequences, awkward situations and self-aware references to Hindi cinema.

The film also carries some of the comic sensibility associated with Kemmu's directorial debut, Madgaon Express. The 2024 film established him as a director with a strong interest in situational comedy and chaotic ensemble storytelling. Vibe appears to take that approach into the action-comedy space.

Kunal Kemmu writes, directs and stars

Vibe marks another major filmmaking outing for Kemmu, who has taken on multiple responsibilities behind and in front of the camera.

After making his directorial debut with Madgaon Express, he returns as writer, director and lead actor in Vibe. He is also among the film's producers alongside Chirag Nihalani under the Drongo Films banner.

The project is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Drongo Films, with the film positioned as a theatrical entertainer combining comedy, action and espionage.

When will Vibe release?

Vibe is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 18, 2026. The release date places the film in a busy theatrical period, with Meghna Gulzar's Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, also set to release on the same day.

With its unusual premise, comic take on the spy genre and the combination of Kemmu, Shrivastava and Zinta, Vibe is aiming to offer audiences something lighter and more irreverent than the typical Bollywood action thriller.

The trailer suggests that saving the country may be the mission — but for Hardik and Bugs, simply surviving the mission could be the bigger challenge.
